May Favourites

It's been a quiet month for me beauty wise. The end of semester brings about a crazy influx of assignments and exams are looming not far on the horizon, it's a stressful time. I've been sticking to the things I know and love with the exception of a few new additions. The blog has taken a slight backseat as of late, something I absolutely hate. I keep getting the itch to take some photos and write something but it's just so hard to find the time. Exams will be over soon (3 weeks in counting!) and then I've got a blissful 6 weeks sans uni with some serious blog time. The notebooks will be coming out and the diary kicking in to gear, is it sad how excited I am about that? Definitely a Virgo.

Virgo-like characteristics aside, on to this months favourites. Starting with skincare there's been a new cleansing balm added to my rotation, Clinique's Take Off The Day Cleansing Balm. It's made it's way around the beauty blogger world and finally made it's way to my desk. Quickly slotted in to 'cleanse number one' in my nightly routine, it melts in to the skin and helps break down all traces of makeup- even that mascara which doesn't usually budge. Removed with a warm flannel I'm left with a make-up free face all ready for that all important second cleanse. More budget friendly than my other cleansing balm love it's a good one for anyone looking to try a decent, not too purse damaging, cleansing balm.

On the makeup front an exciting new purchase has completely stolen my heart. Nothing new in the beauty world, in fact I think I'm about 4 years behind the ball game, but only recently did the original Urban Decay Naked palette make its way in to my stash and let me just say, it's definitely worth the hype. I'm planning on doing a whole post dedicated to this little piece of makeup porn, maybe it will even entice some of you to pull yours out from the depths of your makeup collection and make use of it's lovely bronze shades. But the reason it has made it's way in to my monthly favourites? Buttery, pigmented shades that get me excited to do my eye makeup every morning. Now that can't be a bad thing.

Next up in the makeup category is the lipstick that has well and truly facilitated my foray into daily lipstick wearing, I know right, daily?! Revlon's Super Lustrous Pink Cognito. A sheer pink, sheeny, moisturising lip stick balm hybrid, it's perfect for daily application. And do you know what's even better? No mirror required. Another makeup item I've been loving for a long time is Rimmel's Match Perfection Silky Loose Setting Powder. I've done a full review so won't bore you with the details here, but think a subtle, still slightly dewy but set in place finish.

Makeup aside and on to haircare which is an area I'm not usually one to experiment with too much, but when Priceline had their 40% off sale I knew it was time to stock up. John Frieda's Root Booster has proven itself to be one of the best of those that landed in my basket that shopping trip and it really does live up to what it says on the bottle. Simply spritzed in pre-hair dry it leaves my locks volumised but without that horrible wig-like texture, you know what I'm talking about. Hair stays 'root boosted' and volumised all day long. I like.
