The Sunday Notes #5: The Haircare Cocktail

On one of my more recent stalks perusals of Estée's YouTube channel (if you don't know who she is by now, who are you?!) I stumbled across this haircare video. I will admit, haircare isn't the highest on my list of priorities and it's definitely a part of my beauty regime which could use a little more love. I felt particularly inspired when Estée mentioned her post hair-wash 'haircare cocktail' and decided to have a rummage through my drawers to create a little mix up of my own.

*For reference my hair is pretty long, just above my bum, and in relatively good condition (I'm planning on getting the snip soon, just below the shoulders if I don't chicken out). *

For me hair care is all about the moisture, locking in every last little bit and keeping frizzy ends at bay. I copied Estée's use of Phyto 7's Hydrating Day Cream for a creamy base to my 'cocktail'. This works similarly to a face day cream by adding some moisture post wash. For an oil component I added L'Oreal's Extraordinary Oil, my favourite budget friendly hair oil. This is great for taming frizz. Finally for an extra dose of moisture inducing goodness I reached for a small pump of L'Oreal's EverPure Sulfate-Free Moisture Leave-In Conditioner. This has a slightly gel like watery texture which adds a little slip and slide to the cocktail.

I simply pump a little of each onto my hand, rub together and apply directly to the only the ends of my towel dried hair. It's really important that you keep this moisture rich combo away from your roots or you'll end up having to wash your hair all over again. The result is nourished and sleek locks with no hint of frizz in sight. Not one I'd recommend for those of you with super light hair and probably not something I'd use every wash but it's a great way to treat your ends without faffing around with a mask.

Let me know if you give this a try and what products make it in to your cocktail!

  1. Oooooh I have similar products that I might work into a cocktail! I have the Organic Everescents leave in moisture (very much a lotion consistency!), Indola Inova Glamour precious oil and Matrix Leave in elixir which has a gel/watery texture as well! Ooh wow that's a big snip - props to you!
