The Sunday Notes #4: The Autumn Makeup Bag

The rolling round of a new season is the perfect excuse to dig through those makeup drawers and come out with a slimmed down edit of new season hues and textures all without spending a penny. We're well in to Autumn calendar wise down here in Aus but the temperature has only just caught up. I'm finally pulling out the 'winter clothes box' and donning cosy knitwear on the daily, can you tell I'm slightly excited? After my rustle through the makeup stash I reappeared with many an Autumn hue in tow and am now officially ready for the new season.

Rimmel Glam Eyes HD 5 Colour Brixton Brown: A more in depth review of this can be seen here but the main reason it made it's way into my Autumn makeup bag is that gorgeous centre red. Isn't it just stunning? Such an Autumnal colour. I usually just blend a little into the outer corner with the dark matte brown to stop things looking to pink eye-esque. An awesome way to add a little colour to your everyday look.

Bourjois One Second Nail Polish Red: Another Autumnal shade, can you tell I'm really feeling deep reds at the moment? The formula of these polishes are spot on and for me this shade just screams Autumn. Although I do have a little tip; make sure you wear a decent base coat under this bad boy, it's prone to staining, not a good look.

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12hr Blush Natural Beauty: In the colder months I really like to embrace a slightly bolder blush, stepping away from the summer cream formula's and reaching for pigmented powders. Tarte are well known for their awesome blushes and this shade is no disappointment. You need the tiniest amount to give that I-just-went-and-frolicked-in-the-snow look (never going to happen where I live unfortunately!). It sticks around all day and although I wouldn't say it's a particularly natural shade in the pan, it actually translates to a really natural flush on the cheeks. It can be over done though so best to go in with a light hand.

Diptyque Philosykos: I haven't featured this fragrance much on the blog just yet but I actually picked it up from Space NK after Christmas for half price- bargain alert! I'm slowly falling more and more in love with it, definitely the most 'mature' scent I own. So fresh but also slightly woody. Whilst it's definitely one I've enjoyed sporting through out the summer I think it's really perfect for quite a deep Autumn-Winter scent.

What are your new season must haves?
