Un-doing Powder

I'm a self confessed setting powder addict with rarely a day going by that I don't dust one powder or another over my t-zone at least. But even a powder lover like myself doesn't want to look like a powder puff and sometimes it's all too easy to cross that line. Recently I've stumbled across a few products perfect for those days when you've gone a little heavy handed with the powder and don't have time (or can't be bothered) to re-do the whole look. I call them my 'powder undo-ers'.

Caudalie Beauty Elixir: Not the most budget friendly offering so going spritz crazy probably isn't in my best interest but damn this stuff is addictive. I managed to resist the hype up until about a month ago but I've already almost spritzed my way through a whole bottle. Skincare talk aside (more on that another day), this hydrating toner is perfect for un-doing powder stat. Simply spritzed over the entire face it helps everything melt together and adds a little life back in to an over-powdered face. I think most hydrating spritz toner's would do a similar job, just stick to something with a fine mist rather than a solid stream to avoid ruining your base.

Bourjois Happy Light Luminous Serum Primer: A totally different formula with this one and the way I use it is quite different too. I use a small pump of this with my Real Techniques Stippling Brush and simply blend over any areas that are looking a little too powdery. It helps counteract overly matte areas and I also find that my makeup sticks around longer with a little of this popped on over top. The trick is to go in super light handed to avoid disturbing your base of choice and only use a tiny amount of product. It's also great to add a little shine without shimmer to the cheek bones or to bring a super matte blush to life.

Do you have a powder undo-er?

  1. I tried the Caudalie Beauty Elixir before and I loooooved it! It's a shame it's so pricey :( x

  2. I love the Caudalie Beauty Elixir! I use it before applying makeup to refresh my face and if I'm at home during the day makeup-less I like to give it a spritz. That Bourjois primer sounds great too! A friend's sister just picked the Matte version of the Happy Light Primer up for me in the sale so I am looking forward to trying it.

I adore the Caudalie Beauty Elixir and won't be without it, it's a fabulous skin and mood booster

  4. I LOVE the Mac Fix+ spray for getting rid of a powdery finish. It also gives me a slightly dewy glow!

  5. Me too - I cannot go a day without powder, I end up verrry oily otherwise. That is an interesting way of using the primer, I really want to get my hands on it. Though the Caudalie sounds amazing (with awesome skincare benefits too) it's a bit too pricey for now, I do really want to try the NYX dewy setting spray just to try one out!

  6. Haha, my friend bought the Caudalie Beauty Elixir whilst in France so she got it for a fraction of the price, unfortunately I missed the boat and I can't justify the huge prices here H xx

  7. I know! It's a dangerous love isn't it? xx

  8. I love a refreshing spritz, perfect when you're mid way through a long day of uni work! Ooo I really want to try the matte one, you'll have to let me know how you get on xx

  9. It's lovely isn't it?! Think I may have to splurge on the bigger option xx

  10. I've heard such good things about Fix+, might have to give it a go xx

  11. You don't always have to use products for what they are intended for, that's sometimes the best way to discover something new from things you already have! Oh I didn't realise NYX had a spray, that could be a great budget option! x

  12. I'm keeping a keen eye out for any major reductions in price in the hope that I can justify a repurchase! Maybe I'll just have to make the trip over to France ;) xx

Thank you for all your lovely comments, I love to read them! Feel free to tweet me with any questions (@annablush_) x
