The Rimmel Powder Edit

Being an oily skinned gal myself powder is an important part of my daily makeup routine. Back in the day I was all about matte everything always but in recent times I've come around to the idea of a little bit of dewification. Though a setting powder does still make it's way in to my daily rotation to ensure maximum longevity for my base. Highstreet wise I've found Rimmel have all bases, get it?, covered when it comes to setting powders. They've got two offerings to work with and both bring something a little different to the table...

Rimmel Match Perfection Silky Loose Face Powder: My most recent foray into the world of Rimmel powders and dare I say my favourite?! I think this is the first loose setting powder I've ever tried and damn do I love the results. I take a small amount on my Ecotools Powder Brush, swirl around in the lid then press over my entire face. It sets everything in place whilst slightly mattifying but still lets some of that natural glow through. It's virtually undetectable on the skin, simply giving a really soft focus glow without the shine. On lazy days I just pop this on over concealer, sans foundation, and be done with it. It just does such a great job of pulling everything together. My top tip for application would be avoid the puff, unless you want to look like a powder puff, a fluffy powder brush is your best bet. Also note this is definitely one to keep on your dresser for morning application, travelling not recommended.

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder Transparent: No stranger around these parts, I've written a full review which you can read here, I think this is my third or fourth pot of the stuff. It's taken a slight back seat in recent times with my discovery of it's loose counterpart however there's still a special spot for this in my stash. Whilst it's no longer the one I reach for to set my makeup straight after application (unless things are looking super dewy) it's what gets tossed in my bag for touch ups on the go. Perfect for those 35° days when a midday shine is guaranteed. Dusted across my t-zone it mattifies and perfects, evening out redness and simply enhancing the complexion over all. The safer bet for those who want a powder to travel with.

If I had to pick just one it would have to be the pressed offering simply because for me, a powder is a daily essential and I need something travel friendly. But with such an affordable price tag I don't see why I can't have a spot for both in my life, it's essential I promise.
