Highstreet Picks #2 Lips

Next up; lips. If you missed yesterday's 'Pick of the Highstreet' post you can check that out here for a little intro to the series and a look at my favourite face products. Now, lips aren't exactly the area of makeup I like to experiment with the most. Truth be told I'm a bit of a bold lip wimp, I'm working on it, so this post is full of pinky nudes and 'your lips but better' type shades. Boring? Maybe. Easy to sport on a daily basis? Of course.

L'Oreal Shine Caresse Lolita: As a self confessed 'not really a lipgloss lover' kinda girl, you may be surprised to see this one in here. An incredibly light, never sticky, easy to apply lipgloss with just the perfect amount of colour pay off? Now that's something even I can't resist. Rumoured to be a YSL Glossy Stain dupe this certainly does have the qualities of a high end offering. I've recently been eyeing up some of the darker shades as I think this could be the perfect formula to facilitate my foray into a bold lip. No promises just yet.

Lasting Finish by Kate Moss for Rimmel: The formula for both the shine and matte version's of these are absolutely spot on. They're both really creamy, nicely pigmented, long lasting and not at all drying which for a matte lipstick is quite something. With a good shade variety there's bound to be something for everyone, you can check out the shades I own here.

Rimmel Moisture Renew Notting Hill Nude: Another Rimmel offering, this time one that ramps at the moisture levels. Unbelievably nourishing, think tinted lip balm more then moisturising lipstick. However it's not lacking in the colour pay off department either, both a sheer and opaque nude lip can be achieved here. Not the most long lasting due to it's uber creamy formula but easy to apply on the go, sans mirror so no complaints here.

Burts Bee's Replenishing Pomegranate Lip Balm: One for the girls (or guys) out there who don't want to be messing around applying lip colour but want to add a little something something to their lips. The tint of this is actually rather impressive, quite a deep colour can be achieved just a few coats. Once again it's not going to be the most long lasting, it is a lip balm after all. But one to keep on the desk to keep lips nourished as well as rosey? Definitely. It has an interesting scent though which may be a bit too much for some. You have been warned.

Eee definitely know what you mean about not being brave enough to go bolder with the lips! I know lip liner isn't as 'in' these days (thank God) but that scares me to hell too. The people at the make-up counters never seem to know what you mean when you ask for a lip colour that's pretty much the same as your natural lip!
