High Street Picks #3 Eyes

The third and final instalment in my 'High Street Picks' series is all about the eyes, my favourite place to experiment. I'm a neutral kinda gal when it comes to the lids but that doesn't mean it's always boring, there's so many ways to embrace a neutral eye. Eye products from the high street are really where it's at, it's definitely an area you can afford to skimp out on and still have a tonne of variety and some really amazing products.

MUA Undressed Palette: A very well priced high street brand that has really impressed me in terms of eye shadow's is MUA. I own three of their 12 shade shadow palette's but I'd recommend this one for gals just starting to get in to makeup or even long term neutral lovers like myself. A nice mix of shimmery shades with some matte browns thrown in, perfect for creating subtle crease definition. The formula is really impressive, the shades are all quite creamy with the exception of one or two of the matte shades which are slightly chalky but nothing you can't work with. I'll be popping up a review of the three palettes I own soon so keep an eye out if you're interested.

Maybelline Colour Tattoos: I don't think there's any eye product I've raved about more on this blog than these, they are amazing. Whether you use them as a quick wash of colour or as a base for powder shadow, they look gorgeous. Super long lasting and they make it look like you've gone to a heap of effort when really it's taken all of 5 seconds to apply. My favourite shades are Tough as Taupe (top of above picture) and Bad to the Bronze (bottom of above picture) but rumour is that Maybelline are coming out with a new line of nude colours in this formula, to say I'm excited is an understatement.

Maybelline Hypercurl Volum' Express Mascara: Truth be told, I hate mascara shopping. I love really dry formula's for creating a natural, daily look and I find it so difficult to find mascara's that aren't super wet on the high street and hate to part large amounts of $$ for a high end offering when really you should be throwing them out after 3-6 months. However when I was recently in Thailand I found this offering from Maybelline and was shocked with how much I loved it. Unlike every other mascara I own I didn't have to wait a month for things to dry up a bit, it was perfect from the get go. It's in no way too dry or difficult to apply, I just love that the bristle brush doesn't pick up a heap of product leading to cakey lashes. If you can get your hands on it, I'd definitely recommend this for natural-look mascara lovers.

Rimmel Scandaleyes Eye Shadow Stick Bad Bronze Girl: Another one wash wonder that can double up as a great base, any one else seeing a trend here? This time in a handy stick form this is perfect to keep in your handbag for touch up's during the day. It's also great if you've got to go out straight from work and need to add a little something something to your makeup look. Super easy to apply, blends well with fingers and smokes up an eye look really well.

Rimmel Glam Eye's 5 Shadow Pan Brixton Brown: A lovely little palette for those that are fans of a neutral eye but like to have the option to try something a little different. Four neutral shadows perfect for a day or night time look housed with a cranberry/red centre shade. I'm usually one to fear away from red anywhere near my eyes, the result is usually too pink eye-esque, however this particular red is gorgeous. I like to use the lighter brown as a base with the darker brown and red blended into the outer corner and it's such a lovely combo. Blending into the brown helps tone down the red but at the same time adds a real warmth and depth to the look. It may not look like your kind of colour but don't be afraid to try something a little different, you may just love the result!
