Beauty Cottage Gorgeous Shadow Palette

Palettes are my beauty weakness, well... one of many. So when faced with an entire store of unseen Thai beauty products they were exactly what I gravitated towards. I ended up leaving the adorable Beauty Cottage shop with this Gorgeous Shadow Palette in tow and gorgeous it is. Filled with 9 neutral shades, 3 matte and the remaining shimmer, I'm thinking it's the Thai equivalent of the Naked palettes. There's even an eye shadow brush thrown in which is surprisingly good, luckily it wasn't one of those horrible foam applicators.

The packaging is cute and so different from anything I've seen before but probably not the best for travelling, it's slightly on the bulky side. As for the actual shadows here's a brief over view of the nine shades. Warning; my descriptions aren't amazing, the pictures will probably be more useful!

Calypso- Matte pale creamy white
Medea- Matte light brown
Demeter- Matte dark brown
Aphrodite- Pearly white
Pandora- Metallic coppery brown
Helen- Metallic brown with a hint of green
Artemis- Pinky white shimmer
Hera- Sandy shimmer
Athena- Deep brown shimmer

They're all rather neutral shades with varying finishes (the glitter in some is a little hard to detect in the pictures). As for formula all shades are fairly well pigmented although some of the glitter shades do require a bit of packing on to really achieve that foil-like look. They blend really well and I've found all the colours work together nicely which saves too much thinking. Longevity wise they're definitely up there with my Naked Basics palette, a full day is no problem.

The inclusion of the three matte shades is perfect for creating a really natural look or to deepen the other shades. I've been loving Calypso all over the lid up the brow bone to even things out a bit, a light dusting of Pandora over the lid sticking to below the crease and Medea blended into the crease to smoke things up ever so slighty. Demeter is also really great for lining the lash line and Aphrodite for a brow bone highlight.

Shadow aside let's talk about that brush. I'm so use to the brush in palettes being a miss rather than a hit but that is not the case here. It's a really great shape for getting right into the crease but also patting colour all over the lid. I've been reaching for it daily as it really does make application of any powder shadow so much easier. This paired with a clean blending brush (I use one by Eco Tools) is all I need for any of my usual eye shadow looks.
