The February Edit

This Month We'll See.. Influx of Valentine's Day related posts aside, I'm predicting our Bloglovin' feeds will be full to the brim with Hourglass' Ambient Lighting Blushes. After the huge success of the original powders, this new hybrid is bound to be a hit. The Ambient Lighting Powder shades have been combined with six blush hues to create a range of lightweight, naturally luminous blushes. I've already seen a fair few pop up in my morning Bloglovin' perusal but am expecting many more.

We'll Experiment With.. Rusty eyes and a bold red lip. I'm attempting to brave the red lip and have been slowly building up my confidence, one day I'll make it out of the house. I absolutely love how it has been paired with a rustic bronze eye in a recent Christian Dior show, it adds such nice definition without being too much paired with such a bold lip. I'm determined to make it work for me!

Undereye Glitter. Doesn't this just look absolutely lovely? Would have been absolutely perfect for the festive season. I plan on trialling out a more subtle version of this Chanel look by using a little Bloom Glitter Eyeliner on the lower lash line and Rimmel's Scandaleyes Thick and Thin liner up top. A nice way to add some sparkle to your everyday look.

Something Pink. February is of course the month of Valentine's Day so what better time to play with some pink in your makeup bag? I'm thinking pink on the lips, cheeks and nails but if you're feeling particularly daring you could always try some pinky hues on the lids too.

Releases to Watch Out For.. Clinique's Neutral Territory 2 All About Shadow Palette: You all know I'm a neutral girl at heart so when I heard Clinique was adding another neutral palette to the shelves they had my attention straight away. Slightly Naked Basics-esque in size it holds 8 neutral shadows ranging from light shimmery highlights to deeper browns. I've heard nothing but good things about Clinique shadows, word on the street is that they are creamy and pigmented, one I think may be joining the neutral shadow ranks of my makeup collection very soon.

Mac Eyeshadow X15 Palette: The Queen's of customisable eye shadow palettes have put together two of their very own 15 pan neutral palettes to set our hearts a flutter. With both cool and warm toned offerings theirs something to suit all complexions. The only set back? An RRP of $100 in the US, I'd dread to think how much it will be here in Aus. Although it may seem rather steep, compared to creating your own 15 pan palette (US$15 per shadow and the cost of the palette itself) you're saving more than US$100. As a Mac-virgin I'm thinking this could be my starting point, I see a dutyfree Mac splurge on the horizon.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush: As mentioned above I'm predicting these will be an absolute hit this Spring/Summer. I can't wait until these hit stores and I can have a little swatch-a-thon at my local Mecca Cosmetica. I've secretly got my fingers crossed for an Ambient Lighting Blush palette, we can only hope eh?

I'll Be Lusting After.. Apart from every single product listed above I've also got my eye on the Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder. I'm not much of a contour-er (let's pretend that's a real word) but recently I've decided to give it a go and have found all the bronzers I have to be just that bit too bronze to work well as a contour. I've heard good thing after good thing about this Kevyn Aucoin offering and I'm keen to get my hands on it stat. Before I do the deed though, does anyone have any more budget friendly recommendations? I'll be forever grateful, as will my purse.

  2. I am praying for a Hourglass Blush palette too! As for Kevyn Aucoin-I've just ordered the Nyx Taupe blush online. It seems to be a popular one for contouring, especially among the fairer-complexion set. Will keep you posted.

  9. I totally understand the red lip confidence crisis! So many times I've applied it then taken it off again before I leave. Maybe this year we'll be brave enough!

  10. I just discovered your blog today and it's absolutely gorgeous! I always struggle with a bold red lip too, they end up fading or just rubbing off of me and I look ridiculous. Clearly I need to find something with a better formula! Hoping you have better luck than me :) x
