Rimmel Does Nails

I've spoken of my love for high street brand Rimmel many a time before. Their setting powders, blushers and lipsticks are all regulars in my makeup bag and I've also recently noticed that Rimmel are the most frequented brand in my nail drawer, that can only mean good things right? They've got three ranges up their sleeves I <3 Lasting Finish, 60 Seconds and most recently Salon Pro with Lycra (a collaboration with Kate Moss). They all offer up a little something different, some fairing better than others.

I <3 Lasting Finish: My least loved of the collections but don't judge just yet. An older range offering an impressive bounty of shades with a hardy, long lasting finish. They've got a thicker than average brush making for easy application and a creamy formula which makes the darker shades opaque in just one coat. The drying time is nothing to write home about but for the $5.95 price tag, the ease of application, lasting power and shade range all exceeded my expectations. Shades shown here are Hot Shot (bottom right), Misty Jade (one up from Hot Shot) and Disco Ball (a blue and silver shimmer, top left).

60 Seconds: The range that really saw me jump aboard the Rimmel nail bandwagon. The wide flat brushes and impressive drying time makes these a great option for five mini mani's. One swipe coats the whole nail and offers up enough coverage that you can skip seconds. I'm not sure about the '5x stronger nails' claim and they do take a fraction longer than a mere 60 seconds to dry but still definitely one to add to your nail draw. Shades shown here are At Ease (top right) and How Do You Lilac It? (below At Ease).

Salon Pro with Lycra: Rimmel's most recent foray into the polish world and boy is it a goodin'. Whilst the shade range is the smallest of the 3 offerings, with 20 currently on offer, the formula, application, finish and wear are all worthy of a rave. A nice wide brush (the best kind), opaque in one coat formula and a gel like finish are what keeps me wanting all 20. Shades shown above are Hip Hop (bottom left), Reggae Splash (second bottom left) and Punk Rock (second top right). Next on the wishlist are Classic Red and Chic Chick, any other recommendations?

  1. I haven't tried any of the nail polishes but have been very tempted, their shade range is pretty impressive for a typical makeup-y brand! I love the look of the creamy shades in the Lycra line, and I've heard really good things about them.

  9. I have 'At Ease' and I adore it. However, I do find it takes longer than 60 seconds to dry. I do have four more Rimmel polishes and I recoomend the 'Sky High' (a beautifulstong turquoise colour) and 'Black Cherries' (a purple burgundy) which I am currently wearing right this very minute!!
