Pre-Holiday Beauty Prep

As some of you may know by now, I've tried hard not to harp on about it too much, on Wednesday I'm heading off for two weeks of sun, swimming, cocktails and island hopping in Thailand. A holiday to help relax and de-stress pre-returning to uni but of course I couldn't let my blog fall to the wayside so I've prepped a series of travel related posts for your perusal, the joys of post scheduling eh? I've also got some exciting things happening for fans of the high street so plenty to look forward to. But before I depart it's time for some serious body prep, a night of pampering and preening is on the cards, you know the drill.

There's nothing like treating yourself to a nice bath to get you in holiday mode. I know I'll be running a nice warm one, plopping in a Lush bath bomb for it's water softening properties, lighting the candles and indulging in a little TLC. Before sliding in I'll start with hair, applying a generous amount of L'Oreal's Extraordinary oil to the ends before tying on top of my head in a pineapple fashion, the epitome of bath time chic.

In the tub I'll reach for Soap and Glory's Sugar Crush Body Scrub to slog away any dead skin on my limbs, an important step before tanning or hair removal to allow for the best results. Soft soaked skin is optimal for a close shave so nows the time to reach for the razor. Before exiting the bath, shampoo out the L'Oreal oil and follow with your conditioner of choice.

Post bath is the best time to pull out the face masks as pores are open from the steam. I'd suggest using a clay-based mask to help remove any impurities, like this one from Origins, followed by something radiance boosting to give you that holiday glow, I'm reaching for Ren's Glycolactic Radiance Renewal. While your masks are doing their thang (one at a time of course) it's time to moisturise. Gradual tanning moisturisers are a good option in the lead up to a holiday as they help build up a natural tan and it's hard to go wrong. I've been using Dove's Summer Glow Body Lotion recently which has added a nice hint of brown to my limbs. If you're brows need taming (mine always do) now is a good time to reign them in, soft skin and open pores equals less pain.

Remove masks with a warm flannel, hop into your comfiest PJ's then in to bed. Thailand, I'm coming for you.

I really want to try the L'oreal oil and the clay mask and I'd have to agree with you on the bath ritual. Sometimes, a good soak and a bit of pampering is what we all need, some time to ourselves, to preen if you will. Have a great holiday! I'll try not to be too jealous that you're going to Thailand! I visited beautiful Thailand when I was about 15 and it was an amazing experience, I hope you enjoy it! K
