Shimmer with the Basics

I've been really getting into eye shadows recently. It's pretty much a daily occurrence that I pull out the brushes and palettes and get to work. My favourite palette of the moment is Urban Decay's Naked Basics Palette. Exactly what it says on the tin, all the basics you need to take you from day to night. As much as I love the five matte and one shimmer shade that Naked Basics has to offer, sometimes I want to shimmer things up a bit, I know right? Me and shimmer? Am I feeling ok?. Since delving deeper into the world of eyeshadows, I've developed a love for a bit of shimmer on the lids, and here's what I've been opting for to add a little something something to the 'Basics'.

If you haven't read this post, then you may not know about my love for Maybelline's Colour Tattoos. You can read more about them in the aforementioned link, but today it's all about the shade Barely Branded. A newer offering from the range, it's a champagne shimmer that is absolutely perfect for a base. It helps correct any redness around the eye and keeps my eyes looking like I've had that magic 8 hours of sleep, which I rarely ever have.

A swipe of this before going in with the Naked Basics helps shimmer things up without being a disco ball, I like. It's my favourite paired with Naked 2 all over the lid and Faint blended into the crease. Plus having a cream base helps things stick around all day long, bonus.

What eye look have you been loving lately?

  4. Maybelline Colour Tattoos are the bomb. I've been using the bronze one for months and I got the pomegranate one a few weeks ago, it's gorgeous!
