Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder

I'm sure most of you will know by now that I am quite the oily skinned gal. Whatever time of the year, by about midday it's pretty damn certain that I'll have a slight oily sheen to my face, delicious. I use to struggle with keeping my skin matte through out the day, my foundation would always slide off and by then end of the day, I looked like an oily mess. Not a pretty picture I'm painting for you eh? I turned to powders to help control the oil issue but seemed to be disappointed by most. I didn't want to add coverage with my powder, I just wanted to keep things matte without the dreaded cake face. The one powder I've found to keep my skin matte for hours, not add coverage, not make me appear ghostly or cakey and not break the bank, is this Rimmel offering.

I use the shade Transparent simply because I don't want any added coverage (I get that from my liquid foundations). This powder is so finely milled it is almost completely undetectable on the skin which is exactly what I want. This instantly mattifies the skin and does so for quite some time (it depends on the weather but usually at least 4 hours). I apply this basically every morning, usually just to my t-zone, using a fluffy powder brush, then chuck it in my bag for touch ups on the go. The packaging isn't amazing (as you'd expect for the low price point) and the lid isn't all that secure, but it is nice and compact so great for your bag. This is my third lot of the stuff so that's definitely a sign of a good thing! I've found the cheapest place to pick this up for us Aussie gals is ASOS (which has free international shipping), but for those of you in the UK, I believe it's pretty cheap from Boots.

If you're after something to help keep shine at bay that won't break the bank, I'd definitely look into this Rimmel offering. Let me know if you've tried this or if you plan to!

  1. I love how affordable this is, I remember using it back when my skin was a little more on the oily side and I thought it was amazing. Can definitely forgive the not-so-great packaging! xo

I'm using it at the moment and have done so for months - it's soooo long lasting! Xx

  3. Definitely the best powder I've tried! :)

  4. This is my holy grail powder! Can't knock it for price or performance at all.

  5. This is such a great product, considering its price. I've found it works quite well for me. but only during cooler climates. I really struggled with an oily T-zone throughout the summer and in general, so I started using Soap & Glory's One Heck of a Blot. That is a stellar product. It's more effective than this Rimmel powder when it's hot.

But I'm back to using Stay Matte now and I apply a bit to my problem areas in the morning, and I don't have to touch up again throughout the day. It's a little gem.

  6. Have heard so much about this powder.. thankfully I don't get quite as oily but still good to know where to turn to if I ever need a mattifying powder :)

  7. This is so so good, I have one in my work bag, one in my makeup bag and one on my bedside table (obsessed doesn't ever cover it!), really interested to see how S&G's offering matches up! xx

  8. This powder is the best thing that happened to my make up collection! It's so awesome! I'm using the shade called 003 Peach, it's great xx

  9. I recently tried this with a matte bb cream and it seemed to sit on top of my skin. I was pretty disappointed. But when I used to top a dewy bb cream, it worked quite well!

  10. I definitely plan to try this, my sister loves this product! xx
