Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch

For an oily skinned gal like myself, finding a foundation that will stick around all day is quite a task. I use to be a massive fan of powder to mattify my skin but recently I've been opting for a more dewy finish. Now for me, there is a very fine line between dewy and 'looks-like-you've-just-been-in-a-sauna' skin. I still use a bit of powder to avoid crossing that line however for the most part, I've been mixing up the products I use under my foundation to help prolong wear time. Step in Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch.

This is a pretty well known and liked primer in the beauty world so I thought for my first dip into the high end primer pool, I'd go for this one. I've only tried this under foundation (not over the top or alone as the box suggests you can also do) and let me just say, 'Instant Smooth' is no lie. You know when your skin feels so soft and silky you just want to keep touching it? Well that is exactly what happens with this primer. It feels absolutely lush. This makes applying foundation super easy and the result is a much smoother looking complexion. It evens out problem areas making concealing so much easier.

So it makes applying my foundation a dream, but does it help when it comes to sticking around? I think so. It's not a miracle product that will keep your base looking perfect all day long, but can any primer really do that? It does, however, keep everything looking that little bit nicer for that little bit longer and greatly reduces the amount of powder I have to use. I've also found that under foundations that usually break my out, this primer acts like a barrier and I don't get any break outs!

It's pretty pricey but keeps my make up looking lovely and makes my skin oh so smooth (plus you only need a tiny amount for your whole face). I like. Any recommendations for my next dip into the primer pool would be greatly recommended. Now I'm off to stroke my baby soft skin.

  1. I have oily skin and find it so hard to get a 'dewy' look so I just end up mattifying every inch of my skin! I've heard great things about this product but I haven't tried it yet myself - although after this review, it's definitely on my 'to buy' list now!

  2. Another person with oily skin here, sigh. May have to give this a go as looking shiny is the bane of my life! Luckily my birthday is coming up so I should be able to afford it!

  6. I hadn't heard about this product until a few days ago. It seems quite special. I have horribly oily skin so I think I'll take your word and buy this very soon.
