Review: Emma Hardie Amazing Face Natural Lift and Sculpt Moringa Cleansing Balm

A little while ago I was on the hunt for a new cleanser for my oily, pimple-prone skin. I wanted to try something gentle and hydrating in the hope that it would help pimples heal quickly and in general, just improve my complexion. At the time, this cleansing balm by Emma Hardie was the talk of the beauty blogsphere so I thought I might as well give it a go! It was my first real investment into skincare beyond the drugstore, and boy am I glad I made the change!

Now just in case you've somehow avoided the countless blog posts about this one, I'll quickly fill you in. Emma Hardie describes it as 'a luxurious botanical cleansing balm, which hydrates and soothes whilst removing face and eye make up'. I'd describe it as a balm that turns to oil with the warmth of your hands, is easily massaged into the face to remove make up and cleanses your skin without leaving it feeling tight and dry. Sounds great right? And for all those oily skin gals (like me), please don't cringe at the idea of applying more oil to your already over oily face, it's actually helped mine so much. Products aimed at oily skin types can often make the problem worse as they tend strip away your skins natural oils which means oil production increases to compensate for the loss.

I've been using this cleanser morning and night ever since I purchased it and I absolutely love it. I keep mine in the fridge, just because it's been so hot in Perth recently, and I find it difficult to use when it's all melted. I use about a pea size amount each time (a bit more if I'm wearing a lot of makeup), rub it between my fingers until it turns into a more oil-like consistency and then massage all over my face. There's no need to avoid your eyes with this cleanser as it's perfectly safe to use to remove the makeup there too! I massage in for about a minute before removing with the Emma Hardie Dual Action Cleansing Cloth (which I got in a set with the cleansing balm which you can see here, but if you don't have one, a flannel or muslin cloth will do fine) and warm water. It removes all my makeup, including all eye makeup, and as I mentioned before, doesn't leave my skin feeling tight.

Since using this beauty, I've noticed pimpley areas on my face have calmed down a heap, my skin feels really smooth and just looks much more healthy in general. Although it appears you don't get a massive amount of product in the tub, I've been using mine twice a day for about 3 weeks and I haven't even used a quarter yet!

The downside to this product is the packaging. The lid doesn't seem to twist on properly and as you can see from the pictures, mine leaked during delivery. I though it might be a fault with just mine but have seen lots of reviews which say the same thing, so just be aware of that. Some people may also not like the idea of putting their fingers into the product so may want to use a cotton bud or something like that to get it out.

The other thing I will quickly mention is the scent. When I was looking into this cleanser before purchasing, many people reported that it had a very unusual smell, but that it does eventually grow on you. When I first used this I did not like the smell at all and thought there was no way it would grow on me- but it has! So don't let the smell deter you.

Sorry for this review being so long! But this really is a great cleanser and I just had so much I wanted to say about it! I'd love to hear about any of your experiences with this cleanser and whether you love it as much as I do.
