Review: MUA Undressed Eyeshadow Palette

The name of this palette suggests that it's a drugstore dupe for the much hyped Naked palette by Urban Decay. Whilst I don't own the UD palette myself (I'm very tempted but it seems like such a lot of money to spend on eyeshadows when I'm such a newbie to wearing it daily!), I have seen many reviews comparing the two. From swatches I've seen, the colours included in each palette are very similar! however as I don't own the UD palette, I won't be able to tell you whether this palette by MUA is a good dupe or not (if that's what you're looking for check out this post here by Sandra from The Black Pearl Blog) but I can tell you about my experience with the MUA palette.

I've had this palette for quite some time but have recently found a new love for it. I featured it in my January Favourites post (check that out here) and I have honestly been reaching for this palette any day I feel like dressing up my eyes a bit (and with this palette on my dressing table, that's been most days!).

I love the range of shades and finishes in this palette. I'm totally a nude girl when it comes to eyeshadow so this palette is perfect for me. I do like how it also has some darker shades if I want to do a bit more of a smokey look (a rarity for me- I'm ashamed to admit that I'm not very adventurous with eyeshadows, however I am trying!). It also has a nice mix of shimmer and matte shades, making it ideal for day and night time.

I've also found the quality of these shadows to be pretty damn amazing- especially given that this palette will only set you back £4 (about $6, it's an English brand that's not available in Aus- yes, another one!- but it is available online here and shipping is reasonable). The shadows have good pigmentation, are easy to blend and have decent staying power. Great for such a bargain palette!

The only complaint (if you can even count it as that) that I will make about this palette is that the different shadows are not named, they only have numbers. I'm not sure why this upsets me, I just much prefer colours to have names, it makes things a bit more exciting and special (now isn't that a bit sad?!). Moving on, most days I've been using shade 1 as a brow bone and inner corner highlight, shade 3 all over the lid and shade 5 blended into the crease and smudged into the lower lash line. I find this works well to bring out my eyes but also appears rather natural with the two matte shades. It's a great, basic every day look.

I think this is a great palette with a very reasonable price tag and would definitely recommend checking it out if you are thinking about buying the Naked palette- you'll be saving yourself a lot! I've also noticed that MUA have just realised a new palette named 'Undress Me Too'- surely a dupe for the Naked 2 palette! Let me know in the comments if you have tried either of these palettes or anything else from MUA, I really want to try some more of their stuff after how great this palette has been!

  9. I've been considering this for so long but keep stopping my self from buying it ( i shouldn't since it's really not that costly) Do the shadows last all day?

  10. You should definitely buy it! The shadows are great quality for the price. I wouldn't say they last as well as some of the more expensive shadows like those by Urban Decay, but with a good base they'd last a good 6 hours. Pretty good for the price! x
