Daily Face #1: High Street

Today I thought I'd show you a look I've been wearing quite a bit recently. It's a nice natural, everyday look that uses all high street/drugstore products so is a bit better for your bank balance! Sorry there's no picture of this look on me- my skins not looking great at the moment (not happy) and I didn't feel confident posting a picture. If you like this post though, be sure to let me know and I will do some more FOTD's with my face actually in them!

So first I started with Revlon's Colorstay Foundation for combination/oily skin and I've got mine in the shade 200 Nude. I've had this foundation for ages and it has really served me well. My skin gets really oily during the day and I've found that this is one of the very few foundations that actually sticks around! (Please let me know if you've got any other foundations you'd recommend for an oily skinned gal like me!) I buff this in using my Real Techniques buffing brush which I absolutely love as it makes building coverage super easy without becoming cakey. Next I go over any blemishes and imperfections that the foundation didn't cover with Rimmel's Hide the Blemish Concealer which I have in shade 001 Ivory (the lightest one they do).

About now I slick on some lip balm so my lips are nice and soft by the time it's there turn. In the first picture you can see Maybelline's Baby Lips in Energizing Orange. I've tried so hard to love this lip balm but I can't say I do. I don't find it very nourishing and feel like it just sits on my lips without really sinking in- I think I will have to go back to using my trusty Carmex

I now use my Eco Tools mini kabuki to apply blush. For this look I'm using Natural Collection's blush in Rosey Glow which I love for giving a nice healthy glow to the cheeks but still looking natural. I then like to lightly dust over my entire face with Rimmel's Stay Matte Powder. I've got this in the shade 003 Peach Glow. I originally had 001 Transparent however I used it all up and received this one free with another Rimmel purchase. Even though this one isn't marketed as transparent it doesn't give any coverage so doesn't leave your skin looking cakey.

Next I do my eyes. Recently I've been loving my MUA Undressed Eyeshadow palette (see my review here). I use shade 3 all over my eye lid, shade 5 in my crease and smudged into my bottom lash line. Both of these are lovely matte browns which I think are perfect for a natural daytime look. I also find that by bringing the slightly darker shadow down into my lower lash line it really helps to accentuate my eyes. I then use shade 1 as an inner corner and brow bone highlight. (If you want to see a more close up of these shadows, check out my review). I finish off my eyes with a quick coat of Rimmel's Scandaleyes mascara.

Finally to finish off the look I use another Rimmel product! This time it's one of the matte lipsticks by Kate Moss in the shade 101. This is a baby pink colour which I like to apply with my finger to give a little bit of colour without being too bold.

(L-R) Kate Moss Lipstick in shade 101, Kate Moss Lipstick blended out, Rosey Glow Blush, MUA Shade 1, MUA shade 3 and MUA shade 5

Now it's all done! I hope you enjoyed this post, I love to hear your feedback so feel free to leave a comment below!
